Alyson McGoldrick & Jon Cozart

Alyson was beautiful. As she looked out the window of the King and Prince, she looked absolutely stunning. They handed her the bouquet and we began taking photos of her and her bridesmaids, all of us laughing and having the time of our lives on the happiest day of Alyson’s.

Jon didn’t seem nervous, but very excited as he was about to marry the woman of his dreams. The wedding was beautiful and seagulls called overhead as they made promises to each other to last a lifetime.

Alyson and Jon, thanks so much for inviting us to your wedding and making us feel like old friends.

WDEN Gets Involved!

One of the awesome things about being a photographer is that you make all kinds of friends at weddings. One of my good friends is Laura Starling. She works at WDEN, a local radio startion as a DJ and also DJ's weddings.

When we started doing the Dog Days promotion, I called her up and the radio station was good enough to mention it on the air. I talked to Laura and she said that they would love to have the Shelter come on the radio and bring an animal that needed adoption, so when they came out Saturday, I told them about it.

Laura called me this morning to find out about how the Dog Days of Summer went. I told her how awesome everyone had been. She just emailed me and told me that they will be having some of the dogs and cats on their radio program next Wednesday at 7:45am! I'll be tuned in, and I hope you will too at WDEN FM 99!

The awesome part of doing something like this is to see not only the one time gifts you guys all gave, but also the ongoing help the shelter is getting because of the promotion.

None of this would have been possible without people like you who care.

When I walked in the studio this morning I smiled. The faint scent of dog food drifted into the lobby from our viewing room. In our viewing room almost 1,000 pounds of dog and cat food was spread out all over the place, the aftermath of this past weekend’s event, waiting to be picked up and fed to dogs and cats without homes.

It never ceases to amaze me how generous people can be. This weekend we did our first benefit called "The Dog Days of Summer" for a local no-kill shelter All About Animals. We simply offered to photograph people’s pets in exchange for a bag of dog or cat food. The response was overwhelming. We even had people drop food by who didn’t want photos of their pets, they simply wanted to help.

We filled every slot we had for shooting pets. There was a never ending stream of pets flowing in and out our front door. We had two news stations and the local paper come out to photograph and film the chaos! The puppies slid around on our hard wood floors and the cats batted at our kitty toys as we bribed them with treats, hugged and petted them until we got the image for their owner.

One puppy came in that was the spitting image of my first dog Pepper I had when I was a little boy. I miss that dog. Pepper was my best friend and we used to have so many adventures in my back yard together.

Pets can be like children to people. This one sweet lady came in with her cat and said that the kitty was like a son to her. She explained that she didn’t have any really good photographs of her cat and that her cat was getting on in age. We tenderly photographed her cat and when we showed her the image on the back of the camera, she pulled a tissue out of her purse and wiped her eyes.

And at the All About Animals shelter, there are dogs and cats who are waiting there to be loved and who will be enjoying the generosity of all of you until they find homes with people who love them like you love your own pet.

We're working on the images and they should be posted soon. Check below for a fun slide show!

Thanks guys. Your generosity and your heart this weekend was truly amazing.

Snausages

The studio is ready.

The flash heads are charged, the backdrops all arranged and the treats for the puppies (Snausages) and kitties are standing by, waiting to be given to a good doggie or kitty after their photo. And I'm amazed at how generous everyone has been.

We sold out. We booked every single appointment we had and even added some. I can't wait to see what happens tomorrow. It's so exciting. It's our Dog Days of Summer pet promotion (Scroll down to read more about it).

Everyone is coming and bringing their pets and we're photographing them so we can all help out a wonderful no kill shelter here called All About Animals.

I'm about to lock the studio up and go home. Tomorrow is going to be so awesome. It's quiet here right now. Just some music playing through the studio as I sit here and write this.

I'm always so amazed at how generous people can be. We have over 700 pounds of dog and cat food committed right now. We have doggie and kitty goodie bags all made and as I turn the lights off and go home, I can't help but wonder what tomorrow is going to be like.

You can be sure that I'll let you know.

My Friends at Lacour

We study. Just like any professional we study our craft and perfect it and invest our time, money and energy to see how we can continually improve. I just got back into town from spending a few days with some friends of mine who hosted a workshop at their studio. They are LaCour, a photography studio in Atlanta.

They are among some of the best photographers I know of. In fact, they have been cited as one of the top ten photography studios in the world by American Photo.

I met Andrew Niesen a few years ago. He and I have become friends over the years as well as his wife Rachel and Erin and Mark who all make up LaCour. I’ve even had the chance to shoot a wedding alongside them in Macon.

It’s always fun to hang out with friends, hone your craft but one of the best things I enjoyed about the workshop was the genuine fellowship I have with them. We ate dinner last night together at Ecco in Atlanta and I had a chance to meet Rachel’s mom and dad. They were both so amazing and I can see where Rachel gets a lot of her compassion from. Her brother was also there with his wife and they kept cracking everyone up at the table. Melanie and her husband were there and I really enjoyed hanging out with them.

I’m still processing all I learned and I can’t wait to get a chance to put it into practice. I am blessed to have worked with some of the most talented photographers out there. It’s awesome to not only learn from my friends but to be encouraged from them.

Rachel at one point told me that it’s been so awesome to see our studio and photography grow over the years.

Here's a link to their blog post: http://lacourphoto.net/2008/08/marketing-branding-workshop-recap.html#links

We’ve had some meetings since I got back to talk about things. I also blessed to have some of the best photographers I know right here in Macon who work on our team.

A bright-eyed baby girl...

This picture is very deceiving...

This sweet baby girl came to her first session with an agenda of her own and sleeping definitely was not on it! She was the most bright eyed baby I have ever seen.

Her big brother is so proud of her and I love the images that I captured of them together.

I know her mom is anxiously awaiting this blog posting, as is her grandmother all the way over in England! I can't wait for them to see the rest!

Miss E's sneak peek...

It seems like just yesterday that I did little Miss E's six month session. In fact, I think she may have remembered me! For a good part of the session she was reaching for me to hold her so that we could play! And this is what I saw!

So we took advantage of that situation and got a few shots of her gorgeous mom and dad together!

I love watching little babies turn into curious toddlers. It was a pleasure to see Miss E for her one year session! I hope her parents enjoy this sneak peek and I can't wait for them to see the rest of what we captured!

A maternity session just in the nick of time!

Jacyntha, her husband and son have been anxiously awaiting the arrival of the newest member of their family... a sweet little baby girl who actually made her arrival not too long after we did this session.

Jacyntha was so much fun to work with and was up for anything, as was her husband. He was a little nervous at first but by the time we were finished he was relaxed and happy and really enjoyed the whole experience.

I hope you enjoy your sneak peek and I can't wait to see your sweet baby girl on Thursday for her first session in the studio!

Sydney is turning two!

Sydney and her mom came all the way from Augusta so that I could take her two year pictures. I have been photographing her since she was six months old and I can't believe how big she has gotten!

We had some fun at the park where she got to play in the water (a couple of times!) and then we headed over to the studio for a few more shots.

I can't wait for her mom to see the rest of the images we captured that day!

Natalie and Jason

Natalie and Jason were married at the King and Prince on Saint Simons Island Georgia on July 12, 2008. Stephanie went with me to photograph their day, and got the sweet image above.

The wedding by the beach was moving and the day was perfect. They treated us like old friends and Stephanie and I enjoyed photographing so many moments of their day.

From watching YouTube that morning at the salon to grabbing me and dragging me to the dance floor, the day was a joy to be a part of. I hope you guys enjoy a little preview of the memories we put together for you.

All the best,

Delaney

Mr. Wiggles says No to Photos

Ever have trouble photographing your cat or dog?  We are getting ready to do our Dog Days of Summer promotion and Stephanie brought in her cat so we could do some photos for some promo work for the charity event.

I LOVED this one - it totally cracked me up.   We were shooting her cat against a really cool fabric and the eyes are totally wild.

If you have issues getting your pet to look at the camera, or getting that perfect shot, bring a bag of dog or cat food and we'll do it for you and give you a 5x7 for free.  Read more below.

I crack up every single time I see this picture.  Stephanie tells me that the Kitty's name is decidedly NOT Mr. Wiggles and I guess as it's a girl cat, maybe it's not nice for me to rename the poor thing, but the picture still cracks me up.

It makes me think of Austin Powers arch nemesis Dr Evil's pet kitty, which also, I'm kind of ashamed to say, totally cracks me up.

Sweet Smiles...

I couldn't wait to share a couple of images from this sweet little girl's session. Her mom and dad told me that she is really shy and may not smile for me at all...

I was actually able to capture quite a few smiles for them during our time together - and sweet smiles they were!

I can't wait for her mom and dad to see the rest of them!

I love babies...

Hello friends,

I absolutely love babies and this three week old little fellow was just so sweet. He had that heavenly baby smell that reminded me of when my own children were little! His 3-year old sister had the biggest brown eyes and curly hair and was just so adorable.

We had so much fun playing together as we captured these moments and I wanted to share some of them with you.

I am looking forward to posting here on this blog often to share more memories like these with you.

Corrie walked down the aisle

Corrie and Jereme are absolutely in love. Their wedding day was so amazing in so many ways, but one thing that I will always remember about her wedding is the simple fact that Corrie walked down the aisle with her father.

What made that simple event so remarkable is that when Corrie was 16 years old, she was in a automobile accident that left her in a wheel chair. The doctors said that she would never walk again, but on her wedding day, for the first time ever in public, she left her wheelchair behind, walked down the aisle with her father and married the man of her dreams. Then, arm in arm, they walked back down the aisle and into their life together.

At the wedding reception, she even had a first dance with Jereme. Jereme held her and as the music played, I remember thinking to myself that it was one of the most moving dances I had ever seen.

Accent Gwinnet!

One of our brides was on the cover of Accent Gwinnet magazine! Eryn Roush was a beautiful bride and we had so much fun with her and Chris, her fiance at her wedding!

Eryn spoke about her day in the magazine article on her wedding day. We were honored to be mentioned and more than that, we were honored that she choose us to spend her day with her.

Eryn and Chris have become friends of mine over the years. I first met her at a wedding where she was a bridesmaid and I remember that her she was dating this guy named "Chris". I was so excited for them when I got the call they were engaged and going to be married!

A bride can choose anyone she wants on her wedding day. When she chooses us to photograph and document her wedding for her, I always feel so honored to be a guest at her wedding. It's one of the happiest moments of someone's life!

Jennifer Justice and the Knot!

This is neat. Check out this link:

View my Real Wedding Awards Nominee!

Jennifer Justice and her husband were so much fun to photograph on their wedding day! Jennifer was so happy and everyone had an amazing time. It was at Callaway Gardens and everywhere you looked, you could see Jennifer's hand in the details.

All the hard work and planning paid off. She worked hard on her wedding details and her florist, Kimberly Nelson submitted us to the knot and it's a featured wedding.

One thing that didn't make it was the Skeet shoot we did with the guys the morning of the wedding!

It's so much fun to see what our brides do with their wedding images.
