Faith and Delaney

My daughter Faith had her fifth birthday this past Sunday. It seems like just yesterday we were bringing her tiny little baby self home from the hospital and now she’s dancing around our living room happily becoming my all grown up little girl.

Our studio portrait artist, Stephanie Lynn, made this image one summer morning of my children playing together in a pecan orchard. My son Delaney learning all about the world around him, and Faith is being an awesome big sister to him, reaching out to him and helping him explore.

After the image was created it was brought into the computer and using a digital drawing tablet and some amazing software, brushstrokes were hand applied as if they were painted. Stephanie and I both have painted before. She’s painted with acrylics and I’ve painted with oils since I was a child.

The software allows the digital artist to choose the medium, brush and paint and allows us to digitally create paintings combining both the art of the lens and the art of the brush.

I had the final image stretched on a 30x40 canvas and it hangs in my studio. Each time I walk by it I smile and think about my children.

As we accept commissions from our clients to create original photography artwork for their homes, we can now also offer this kind of painting as a way to enjoy your images. How much better would it be to hang a painting that contained a moment of your life than a painting of a still life or landscape?
