Giving Back

I have learned so much from other photographers and been blessed to be mentored by some of the best photographers in the world. I've been to Dennis Reggie's home, shot a wedding along side my friends at LaCour, taken a class with Joe Buissink, and shot a fashion shoot with Claudio Basso.

The photographers I have known have been totally awesome at sharing knowledge freely. It's an incredible industry where people are so open with their ideas and techniques.

I love answering questions that people ask me. Sometimes I'm shooting a wedding and someone will walk up and ask me a question or two about their camera. Or one of my photographer friends will email me and ask me about how I did a certain shot. I do the best I can to explain, but I always wish I had more time.

I think it's really important to give back, so I'm exploring the possibility of giving a class on what we do here at the studio. The idea would be to do an eight hour workshop, probably on a Sunday afternoon/evening, and explore photography and what works for us here at our Studio.

I'd love your input on this. What kind of things would you be interested in learning in photography? What level are you (pro/semi-pro, medium experience, just getting started)? And what would you like to learn more about (photoshop, shooting, weddings, portraits, etc.)

Depending on the responses we get, we'll plan something fun. I would love to host the workshop here at my studio, get some models for us to photograph and maybe even go downtown and then talk about what we do after image capture to enhance the images.

I think it's really important to give back and show others what I've been shown.

Thanks for letting me know what you think!
