Want to be photographed like a Rock Star?

I spent yesterday in Atlanta hanging out with Zack Arias at his one light workshop. Zack is a music photographer in Atlanta who shoots indy and hip hop bands. We met through a mutual friend, Hassel Weems, at a Lacour Photographers mixer in Atlanta. I decided to come and hang out with him and see how he photographs rock bands.

We started yesterday morning and didn't finish until after 1:00 in the morning. I got in bed well after 2:00 a.m. I felt like I was in a rock band! Those guys get no sleep.

On the ride home thought about how much fun it was to hang out with other photographers and talk about lighting and collaborating with clients to make awesome images.

Can you imagine a Senior photo shoot where the guy or girl was photographed in awesome, contrasty lighting, looked like they were on MTV and having a total ball doing it? Can you imagine a family shot the same way? Or how about you yourself!?

Zack had worked with an Atlanta model before and invited her back. After he talked about his lighting in the studio, I had a chance to go out outside in some cool locations and shoot with her.

Check out some of the images I made yesterday:

Lacour Photo Foundation Workshop

Last week we were blessed to attend a week long photographic workshop put on by our friends at Lacour Photography in Atlanta. They are some of the most talented photographers I know. Lacour is made up of two husband and wife teams, Andrew and Rachel and Mark and Erin. They are photojournalist who now bring storytelling to wedding photography.

I met Andrew at a Dennis Reggie workshop in Atlanta a while back. I have always been amazed not at just the technical ability of their photography, but also of the art of their photography. These guys have heart.

Professional photographers from all over the country and as far as Mexico and Canada were attending. It was a great time to connect to other photographers, fellowship and find out new ways to capture the moment.

We are always looking at workshops and training to hone our skills and to expose us to the way other photographers pursue their craft. We'll be attending the Wedding and Portrait Photographers International convention in Las Vegas next month and I'm going to the One Light Workshop back in Atlanta this weekend put on by Zack Arias, a talented commercial photographer who photographs musicians for record labels.

Take some time to check out some great wedding photography by these guys: http://www.lacourphoto.com/

Delaney and Faith

I have two little sisters I love so much. Kerry, my wife, also has a sister and a brother. Family is really important to both of us. It's going to be so amazing to see Faith and Delaney grow up together as sister and brother. Faith is already saying she's going to take good care of Delaney and look out for him.

I love the dynamic of brother and sister that's already starting to grow between them.
